WAN Failover

Just set up WAN Failover on opnSense for the first time. About to take the fiber down in software and see if it switches over to the Shentel cable internet and how quickly it does it!

It works, and it’s almost instant!!! 🙂 Verified by checking whatismyip.com to see if the IP address changes between providers, and it does! How cool!!!!! Officially have backup internet if Fiber goes down. Only considering keeping both services for the next 30 days as of right now. Next step will be to set up a way to tether mine and Sabrina’s phones to the pfSense installation (need a wifi -> ethernet bridge) and then we can just use that if the Frontier fiber goes down. It would keep it from switching instantly, but it’ll still work just fine.
